Robert Burgess, DVM

Robert Burgess, DVM is our Relief Veterinarian here at Native Palm Animal Hospital. He is a Plantation, FL native and has enjoyed taking care of Florida animals for many years! He joined our team in March 2012. Dr. Burgess earned his bachelor's degree in animal and dairy sciences from Auburn University, where he graduated cum laude in 1987.

While there, he was a member of the Outstanding College Students of America. He went on to Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and was Phi Beta Kappa and chairman of the Honors Committee. He graduated magna cum laude with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. He is a member of Treasure Coast Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Burgess grew up around animals and was inspired to work in the veterinary field because of his father, who worked professionally in medicine. He says he finds great satisfaction in his chosen profession because of his ability to make a "positive difference in the life of a family pet via diagnosing, treating, and preventing illnesses [and] comforting people by assisting them during difficult situations." When he is not busy taking care of animals, Dr. Burgess loves fishing, skiing, reading, and watching movies. He has two dogs: Denali, the golden retriever, and Balto, an Australian Shephard. He enjoys participating in mission work and has gone on several trips to Haiti, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.
